Larry Powell: Trumpet – Larry is a Hammond Design Performing Artist.
He currently teaches applied trumpet at the University of Indianapolis. He has been Principal Trumpet with the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra in Kentucky since 2003. He also performs as Principal Trumpet with the Marion Philharmonic and Principal Trumpet and Personnel Manager with the Anderson Symphony. He is an active freelancer in Indiana and Kentucky, working with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and the orchestras of South Bend, Evansville and Orchestra Kentucky.
He also works extensively as a session player in the recording studios in Indianapolis and Ft. Wayne. He has performed with artists including Wayne Newton, Sandy Patti, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Leann Rimes, Twila Paris, James Galway, Andre Watts, STYX, the Beach Boys, Allen Vizzutti, Amy Grant, Ronnie Milsap, and Peter Frampton, and under the batons of esteemed conductors such as Raymond Leppard, Mario Venzago, Jack Everly and Eric Kunzel.
Mr. Powell received his Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from the University of Indianapolis and his Master of Music in Trumpet Performance degree from Butler University. Major instructors have been Vincent DiMartino, Roger Ingram, Marvin Perry and Bob Wood.
